Depending on the location we have:

Visceral, subcutaneous, ectopic, intramuscular and epicardial fat.

Let’s break it down:

Visceral Fat is packed in between the internal organs. It is semiliquid however the looks from outside are a solid like a bumpy tummy.

Subcutaneous Fat is just under the skin (the type that VASER Lipo can remove) and can be found around the stomach, breasts, hips, and bums.Think of Buddha’s belly and you’re on the right track.

Ectopic Fat is misplaced around the organs in the abdominal cavity.

When the adipocites, or fat cells, cannot store any more fat they are enlarged and full. The spare fat will be stored in other organs like the liver, pancreas, muscles and even sometimes the brain. This is actually the cause of the metabolic problems in obese people. The fat that infiltrates the muscle makes the body resistant to the action of insulin, the first step to diabetes and in many cases the beginning of other disorders like hypertension and obesity.

Intramuscular Fat is the fat that fills the gap in the muscles.

Epicardial Fat is a visceral type of fat located around the heart and a metabolically active involved in the cardiac function.

This is getting more and more interesting as we go by: did you know that fat has different colours?

I will explain in depth in the next blog.
